Established in Dubai in 2008 by Sheikha Lateefa bint Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Tashkeel operates as a not-for-profit on a membership basis and seeks to provide a nurturing environment for the growth of contemporary art and design practice rooted in the UAE. Through multi-disciplinary studios, workspaces and galleries located in the districts of Nad Al Sheba and Al Fahidi in Dubai, it enables creative practice, experimentation and dialogue among practitioners and the wider community. The annual programme of training, residencies, workshops, talks, exhibitions, international collaborations and publications aims to further practitioner development, public engagement, lifelong learning and the creative and cultural industries.

Tashkeel’s Tanween Collection presents high-end, limited edition furniture, lighting and decorative designed pieces that are available for sale, unveiled at Dubai Design Week every year. These selected works from Tanween Collection reflect the ongoing evolution of a UAE design aesthetic through form, function, material and process; from the organic materials of camel leather, khoos, coral and stone to practices integral to UAE identity such as language, crafts, customs and trade.

Visit the Tashkeel stand (Z3A151) to find out more about Tashkeel and its Tanween design development programme that supports emerging designers to produce UAE-inspired limited-edition pieces, contributing to the growth of the UAE contemporary design scene.
